This year I ride for two very special ladies in my life. My beloved Aunt Fran passed away last year after an incredible slugfest with this disease. She was so important to me it is impossible to describe. I live most days trying to live up to her legacy of thoughtfulness, caring, faith and sense of humor. Most days I fail. I love and miss you Aunt Fran. I also ride for my incredible friend Shelley Beal. For many years of my life I have not had much family. Shelley and her family became my family. Shelley is a kind soul that is beloved by her family, her pseudo family and friends-so many friends! Shelley was diagnosed this year with ovarian cancer. It really brought home the realities of this disease to me and so many of my friends. Cancer doesn’t care how much you are loved, how good of a person you are or how much your family needs you. I hate cancer. Shelley Beal will beat cancer. I know this is my bones. It is my honor to ride for Shelley because I love her and her family like my own.
