   Congrats! Keep going!

This is my first year riding in the Pelotonia! This opportunity is both hugely intimidating as a newbie and immensely inspiring. 10 years ago my family was touched by cancer for the first time when my middle sister was diagnosed with breast cancer. Thankfully due to the continued research and focus on finding a cure, my sister can proudly claim the title of being a 10 year survivor! 5 years ago our lives were rocked once again when my mother was diagnosed with CML. CML is fact so rare that of all cancers diagnosed in 2019, CML only represented 0.5% of them. Once again, the continued research and advances in medicine have kept my mom alive, well and able to claim the title of a 5 year survivor.

I've watched two inspirational women directly related to me fight for their lives. I've watched as close friends have battled for their lives. I've held friends who have cried over the loss of loved ones to cancer.

I'm riding the Pelotonia with my sisters this year. I'm riding for the survivors. I'm riding in memory of those who have lost the battle. I'm riding for continued research so there can be more survivors than not. I'm riding in the hopes that one day, with enough research, cancer will no longer be a threat to our loved ones.

I’ve joined the Greatest Team Ever, a community of legendary Riders, Virtual Riders, Volunteers, Researchers, Donors, and passionate fundraisers who have committed to join forces to make amazing things happen. In just eleven years the Pelotonia community raised over $208 million for cancer research. But we aren’t stopping there. Every single dollar we raise is invested in innovative cancer research, the brightest minds and ideas, and the tools and technology needed to reach our one goal. In July 2019, Pelotonia announced the creation of the Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology at the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute. The institute launched with an initial $102,265,000 pledge from the Pelotonia community. This money will be raised over the next 5 years and represents the 2,265 riders who participated in the first Pelotonia in 2009. Please consider supporting me today by making a donation to support my fundraising goal. Remember - 100% of every single dollar raised is directed to life-saving cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center-James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.
