I've been on this planet for 26 years, and I've yet to find anything I hate as much as I hate cancer.
I've hated it since it took my friend Debbie years ago. She lit up every room she entered with her jokes & echoing laughter, and always spoke what was on her mind. She was an incredible mom, and made me feel like I won the lottery as her third, unofficial kiddo. She always kept a smile on everyone's faces, even when her cancer was making it impossible.
In the last year I even watched my mom get diagnosed with skin cancer. Thankfully her diagnosis isn't life-threatening, and treatment has allowed for an A+ quality of life, thanks to research and the amazing physicians at The James.
Cancer reminds me on a daily basis how much I truly hate this disease as I work with our amazing Riders, and hear our community's powerful stories of why we ride.
All of my strength against this terrible disease comes from the Pelotonia community, who I have the privilege of serving every day. This community embraces the fact that they'll never meet most of the folks whose lives will be saved by their efforts, yet they never lose sight of our One Goal. I hope you'll consider making a donation to Pelotonia, where 100% of every dollar we raise goes directly toward funding life-saving ideas, innovation and research that will someday soon end cancer.
