|$0 My Goal: $400.00|
|Congrats! Keep going!|
TL;DR Cancer sucks, and so does racism (still). Donate to my Pelotonia and I’ll donate to an organization of your choice to help fight racism.
This year I signed up to ride 100 miles at Pelotonia, a charity bike ride that raises money for cancer research. While the large group ride will not go on as planned due to COVID-19, we are encouraged this year to make the ride our own. In addition to completing the 100 miles as originally planned, I’m also challenging myself to ride a total of 400 miles leading up to the day of the event. Why 400 miles?
In 1619, the first enslaved African American’s arrived in what would later become the United States. That means black people have been suffering and fighting for racial equality in this country for OVER 400 YEARS. While we can all agree that cancer research still needs funding, the black community needs our help too. That’s why I’m offering to match ALL donations made to my pelotonia fund, to an organization of your choice that will help fight racism in our country. When you make a donation on my pelotonia page, please include in the comments where you’d like the matching funds to be applied OR you can let me choose for you. If you need suggestions, here are a few:
Side Note: This challenge was inspired after I started listening to a podcast “1619” by the New York Times. If you’re looking for a way to educate yourself on the real history of our nation, I would highly recommend checking it out!
