There.Is.No.Cure. The four most devastating words I have ever heard. In 2013, my amazing husband battled his second round with cancer. His first round was at 15, when he had AML, an aggressive Leukemia. He was cancer free until 2013 when in January and July, he had two Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath tumors removed. It was the beginning of August, when it was discovered that there were a multitude of tumors covering his spine. We were then told the four scariest words "there is no cure." There.Is.No.Cure. Devastating, heartbreaking, crushing. He courageously fought with more rounds of radiation and chemotherapy. But on September 1st, 2013, David Schnaidt (my precious husband of 19 years, the father of our three children) at the age of 43, was eternally cured when he was called home. He was an amazing man -- full of love, wit, compassion, generosity and honor. But most importantly, he was a man who loved the Lord. He started "Spokesman for a Cure" in 2013 as our peloton as he was fighting for his life. In 2017, Spokesmen For A Cure joined forces with Team Granville (his hometown), now known as Team Granville Spokesmen! This is my sixth year riding and I will ride with my new husband, my two daughters and my two stepkids. My son is too young to ride this year, but he will participate in his fundraising ride SpokesKIDS, It is my desire that in the not-so-distant future, when other families are faced with cancer, they will never have to hear those four unbearable words -- There.Is.No.Cure.
